Bayesian networks with a logistic regression model for the conditional probabilities

چکیده

Logistic regression techniques can be used to restrict the conditional probabilities of a Bayesian network for discrete variables. More specifically, each variable of the network can be modeled through a logistic regression model, in which the parents of the variable define the covariates. When all main effects and interactions between the parent variables are incorporated as covariates, the conditional probabilities are estimated without restrictions, as in a traditional Bayesian network. By incorporating interaction terms up to a specific order only, the number of parameters can be drastically reduced. Furthermore, ordered logistic regression can be used when the categories of a variable are ordered, resulting in even more parsimonious models. Parameters are estimated by a modified junction tree algorithm. The approach is illustrated with the Alarm network. 2008 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Bayesian and Iterative Maximum Likelihood Estimation of the Coefficients in Logistic Regression Analysis with Linked Data

This paper considers logistic regression analysis with linked data. It is shown that, in logistic regression analysis with linked data, a finite mixture of Bernoulli distributions can be used for modeling the response variables. We proposed an iterative maximum likelihood estimator for the regression coefficients that takes the matching probabilities into account. Next, the Bayesian counterpart...

An Introduction to Inference and Learning in Bayesian Networks

Bayesian networks (BNs) are modern tools for modeling phenomena in dynamic and static systems and are used in different subjects such as disease diagnosis, weather forecasting, decision making and clustering. A BN is a graphical-probabilistic model which represents causal relations among random variables and consists of a directed acyclic graph and a set of conditional probabilities. Structure...

Credit Card Holders' Behavior Modeling: Transition Probability Prediction with Multinomial and Conditional Logistic Regression in SAS/STAT®

Because of the variety of card holders‟ behavior patterns and income sources, each consumer account can change to different states. Each consumer account can change to states such as non-active, transactor, revolver, delinquent, and defaulted, and each account requires an individual model for generated income prediction. The estimation of the transition probability between statuses at the accou...

Bayesian Logistic Regression Model Choice via Laplace-Metropolis Algorithm

Following a Bayesian statistical inference paradigm, we provide an alternative methodology for analyzing a multivariate logistic regression. We use a multivariate normal prior in the Bayesian analysis. We present a unique Bayes estimator associated with a prior which is admissible. The Bayes estimators of the coefficients of the model are obtained via MCMC methods. The proposed procedure...

A Bayesian Nominal Regression Model with Random Effects for Analysing Tehran Labor Force Survey Data

Large survey data are often accompanied by sampling weights that reflect the inequality probabilities for selecting samples in complex sampling. Sampling weights act as an expansion factor that, by scaling the subjects, turns the sample into a representative of the community. The quasi-maximum likelihood method is one of the approaches for considering sampling weights in the frequentist framewo...
